A Penang Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said that Muhammad Syafiq and his two-year-old daughter sustained light injuries, while his wife was seriously injured.

Aside from Muhammad Syafiq's baby, 45-year-old Zainab Wahab and a woman in her 30s - Titik Sukanti - were also killed when the multi-purpose vehicle they were travelling in skidded and crashed into a road divider at KM163.0 of North South Highway near Sungai Bakap

"The department received a call at 5.36am informing them about the accident and arrived 10 minutes later at the scene," he said in a statement on Sunday (Dec 6).

He said upon arriving at the scene firefighters found six victims in the car, adding that three of them were pinned in the severely-damaged MPV.

He said the firefighters used rescue tools to extricate the bodies from the wrecked vehicle after rescuing the injured victims.

He added that the victims trapped in the vehicle were successfully extracted at 6.10am.

All three victims were declared dead at the scene and were handed over to the police for further action.
